Who I am...
Well, here are the basics. My name is Tim Boatwright and I was born in Atlanta in 1968. I had a great childhood growing up in Georgia but in retrospect, I'm sometimes surprised astronaut training at 6yrs old didn't kill me.
I wish I was making this up but sadly, I'm not.
I was totally convinced that someday I would growup and become a famous astronaut. I remember reading somewhere that astronauts are trained to survive in extreme heat and cold environments. At 6 years old, I stood in a cold shower for about 30 minutes until my skin turned blue. I was sick with a cold for a week after the training but I still considered it a success because I did survive.
A few years later, my twin brother enlisted the help of our childhood friend Robert Ellis to convince me that all real astronauts went through flight and g-force training! They said they had figured out a great way for me to train at home. Have you ever noticed how friends always have a great plan for YOU?
Do you know what happens when you drive a huffy bicycle off a 12 foot high embankment in the backyard?
After completing flight school, I graduated to g-force training which involved going really fast on my bike while being tied to a tree with a rope. Sudden deceleration in mass. Funny but as kids we figured out g-force was basically stopping very fast! Wow, we weren't the sharpest crayons in the box but I really am surprised NASA never called :)
Somehow I survived my desires of childhood and graduated High School.
So how do I go from a wannabe Astronaut to photographer? Here is a Synopsis:
I worked in graphic design doing cad and rendering after graduating college in 1994. That same year, I started working in stock photography. I worked with many wedding and portrait photographers in the Atlanta area as a second shooter and after many years learning the business, I launched MWP Photography in 2007. Due to a curveball in life beyond my control, I ended up moving myself and the business to Carrollton in 2012. The only thing I hate more then moving is painting but sometimes %u2013 it has to be done. Moving yourself is bad enough but to move a business is a nightmare.
Regardless, here I am and still loving my job.
There is no greater job on the planet then the job you love. I take pictures of kids laughing, babies sleeping, and couples in love. The crazy part is I get paid to do it! That is right up there with being paid to fish or like having a job in the quality and control department at Blue Bell Ice cream.
I know there are a lot of photographers out there and trying to pick one can make your head spin. What is it that makes me stand out from the rest? Remember that kid in the shower that turned blue because he thought one day he would stand on the moon? (I still think NASA might call)
Well, I%u2019m still that same kid just smarter and with better insurance :)
I will do whatever it takes to earn your business and more importantly to keep your business.
Are you looking for a photographer that will listen to what you want? Someone who will shoot you in a variety of locations and styles that are constantly being updated! I mean come on - you don't want your images to look like everyone else's, do you? Are you looking for someone who never rushes the session due to time limits or shoots only a certain number of images? How about someone who offers awesome and professional products at reasonable prices! How about a photographer who doesn't charge seniors more than his other folks or charging extra for "options" that should be standard.
By the way, who came up with that great business model in the first place???
How about a photographer that is totally transparent. No hidden fees or up charges?
Give me the chance to become your photographer!!!!
